Portable Opportunities in Play PDF Print E-mail

The mobile Portable Opportunities for Play project (POP) will offer free play opportunities to Hillingdon’s ‘vulnerable’ children and young people through regular play sessions and one off community events.

The mobile play workers will take play trailers to community groups and events, there will be three play trailers in total, a sensory trailer, an arts and crafts trailer and a active play trailer. There trailers will help to support community groups through play.

Arts and Crafts Trailer

The arts and crafts trailer will consist of wood work materials, tools, work benches, etc. It will also have jewellery making equipment and the wood work and jewellery making can be combined. There will also be equipment that enable the children to recycle and create from the recycled materials.

Sensory Trailer

The sensory trailer will contain a wide range of interactive sensory equipment. We will have a large sensory den that can be broken down flat so it is easy to transport. Inside the den will be a range of  equipment that stimulates the children both visually and through noise.

Active Trailer

The active trailer will contain disc golf, the swinxs game console and a range of outdoor equipment. Disc golf is played like ball golf, only with a Frisbee instead of a ball, the object of disc golf is to throw a disc from the tee to the target over the course in the fewest throws. The swinxs game console can talk, explain games, recognise players and even referee too! Swinx keeps a track of players scores through wrist bands. Swinx organises races, hide and seek, musical chairs-style games and much more.
